Improve Strength To Improve Consistency

Mar 26

In any sport the stronger athlete will always be more accurate and consistent with whatever task they perform. After a solid foundation of flexibility, mobility, and balance the development of strength is the next step in your golf performance objectives.

Greasing The Groove:

MilitaryPress-S4b-small

The Monster Golf Swing program is designed to take advantage of two very effective strength training theories. They are greasing the groove (GTG) and synaptic facilitation. Here is a brief explanation of each technique and how they will help improve your golf performance.

Greasing the groove (GTG) suggests that by performing a movement pattern repeatedly you will get stronger because of movement efficiency. In other words by repeating the same movement over and over again, you will get stronger. Strength is highly dependent on the ability of the brain and nervous system to activate the muscles.  GTG speeds up this process dramatically by making the circuits or neuromuscular “grooves” more efficient.

Synaptic Facilitation emphasizes not training to exhaustion. By exposing your body to the same exercise in a low to medium dose (low sets and reps), you will get stronger quicker as opposed to training to exhaustion only a couple of times a week.

Breathe Right, Swing Right

picc

Breathing is the elixir of life and the body compensates very powerfully around any breathing issues.
Therefore if you cannot breathe properly, the core doesn’t work. If the core doesn’t work, your golf swing will not work. #breathefirst

Let the Forces be without you..

One of the key roles of the core is to dissipate forces away from the spine. In the golf swing, there are ground reaction forces that if not
balanced can cause pain and/or injury. A smart and intelligent core equals a better golf swing.

By Proxy Core Conditioning

RocketMan-small (1)

Real core conditioning involves more than just doing crunches or abdominal specific exercises. The core is a system of muscles that works to support movement and protect the human body. The abdominals and entire core stabilization system plays a critical role in a powerful and safe golf swing. The program designed within the Monster Golf Swing system provides real world conditioning for the abdominals that will carry over to the golf course and in everyday life.

Are You Hip To The Fact:

Collage (22)The hips can affect your golf swing in so many ways that it would take an entire book to explain. Your hips behave like a bucket with strings attached to them that pull them in 3 directions. The hip muscles are strings that attach to the pelvis. If the muscles in the hips are balanced, there will be no restrictions in your golf swing.

For example, tight hamstrings will lock your hips and make it harder to bend and rotate. Weak buttock muscles will affect your downswing and your ability to keep your swing on plane.  If you have tight groin muscles your hips can’t pivot in either direction. All this will get fixed during the very first phase of your Monster Golf Swing program. Visit www.monstergolfswing.com to get started today!

Strength Stretching

Bad vs Good Golf Swing

Our body has a protective mechanism that does not allow it to move beyond a point that it is not strong enough to control. It can be likened to the parking break on your car.  For example a tight hip muscle will restrict hip mechanics during the golf swing. The tighter the hip muscle gets, the weaker it gets. Tightness begets weakness and weakness begets tightness. It is a perpetuating cycle that will continue until the muscle is properly stretched and balanced. A properly executed stretch will tell the body that it is ok to relax, thus “releasing the body’s parking brake”. Golf mobility drills will help release the parking brake on your body.

The Head Wins In The Golf Swing:

March 12

If the head moves more than one half width off the ball, your risk of hitting a bad shot increases. Improving mobility helps keep your eye on the ball.

Can You Rotate?

jamie-sadlowski

Every joint in the body must be able to rotate. A restriction in any of the joints will result in substitutions patterns that will kill your body and your golf swing.

Golf Mobility

KidneyTaps-small (1)

Research has shown that the golf swing requires about 90% of voluntary muscular effort. That means you use almost all of your available power when swinging a golf club.  Golf-specific mobilizations increase circulation and relaxation that will prepare you to play a good round of golf or give you a good recharge after your round.
